Tea LIght Candle Holders

Visiting an atelier in a beautiful little village in France (St Paul de Vence) in 2008, i came across a whole table full of glass tea light holders which had been covered with different types of lovely paper!  What a simple way to combine colour and pattern and light! (And what a privilege to be in such a beautiful place!)

These are one of my first attempts to respond to what i saw (2 years ago!!).  I made them for a friend who has these warm tones in the living room.

The gold pattern is made by stamping and melting embossing powders.  What you can't see in the photo are the tiny lines of holes stabbed through the paper (around in circles) so that the candlelight shines through.

I hope to play around with different ideas and maybe teach this as a class one day (now that i have figured out the mathematics of fitting flat paper to this difficult shape :) ).
